Required morning teaching sessions with clinic attendings on Monday(s), Tuesday(s), Thursday(s) and Friday(s) at 8AM. Grand Rounds every Wednesday from 8-9AM.

Evaluated Competencies

#1 Professionalism:

Educational Objectives: Provides culturally competent care that is individualized for the patient in the context of his/her family and community, as demonstrated by use of appropriate language and shared decision making. Works collaboratively with all members of the clinic team.

Method of Evaluation: Preceptor observation. Case discussions.

#2 Patient Care:

Educational Objectives: Takes well-organized and appropriate histories for both health supervision and acute illness visits. Performs accurate physical examinations on patients newborn age through adolescence. Demonstrates legible, well-organized, written documentation and concise oral presentation skills. Uses laboratory data appropriately to aid in diagnosis and patient management. Makes appropriate subspecialty referrals.

Method of Evaluation: Preceptor observation Chart review by preceptor

#3 Medical Knowledge:

Educational Objectives: Applies basic science knowledge to individual patients in order to develop appropriate differential diagnoses and management plans.

Method of Evaluation: Preceptor observation. Case discussions.

#4 Practice-Based Learning:

Educational Objectives: Uses educational resources (e.g. web, textbooks, journals, teachers) to improve knowledge.

Method of Evaluation: Preceptor observation. Case discussions.

#5 Interpersonal and Communication Skills:

Educational Objectives: Demonstrates appropriate communication skills along the guidelines in Competency #1.

Method of Evaluation: Preceptor observation.

#6 Systems-Based Practice:

Educational Objectives: Integrates community resources into patient care plans.
